Second Phase of Cleveland Streetscaping Project to Begin | Maddux ...
CLEARWATER, Fla. ˆ Construction on Cleveland Street, from Missouri Avenue to Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, is scheduled to begin on Feb. 7. When that construction is complete, work will continue on Cleveland Street from Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue to Myrtle Avenue. Each part of the construction will take six months, or one year total. The project will continue the look and feel of the streetscaping project that was previously completed from the waterfront to Myrtle Avenue.
Construction will begin on the east end of the project, working west. A landscaped median, one travel lane in each direction, and parking on both sides of the street will be the end results of the $2,940,906.83 project. The contract was awarded to MTM Contractors of Pinellas Park, and is being funded through the Community Redevelopment Agency.
The intersection of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue and Cleveland Street will close shortly after the start of construction and will remain closed until the project is substantially complete. Necessary detours will reroute drivers north to Drew Street using Jefferson Avenue and Grove Street, and south to Court Street using Lincoln Avenue and Pierce Street. Advance warning and detour signs will direct the public around the work zone. Access to businesses will be maintained through adjacent streets and avenues.
