It had got to be a festival to eat strange food is ... wait for it ... discouraged! The festival originated in the 16th century when Spanish monks brought the edible root for the new colonies.
To gather attention to the food markets, vendors carve radishes into some eye-catching sculptures. This tradition, however, continued through the centuries and became an official holiday in 1987.
Radishes that are as long as two feet and more than ten pounds are carved religious scenes or sometimes cultural complex. The artisans can compete in three different categories for cash prizes!

You can have your choice of plain fried, beer battered, marinated and specialties as well as some newly concocted. For those who have a hard time making choices, $ 5 you can get a sampler plate of the testes.
Those who follow a diet low testicle can have fun here too! One of the main highlights of the festival is "Bullshit Bingo", which has a grand prize of $ 100 for the lucky person who can correctly predict where a cow will make her ... Well, Doodie!
