REAL ESTATE
• David McKay and Brian Schultz have joined Callander Commercial , of Portage, as sales associates. McKay has 10 years of experience in financial services, most recently as a personal financial adviser at Smith Barney. The Kalamazoo native has a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in finance, both from Western Michigan University. Schultz, of Chicago, served as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps for seven years. Afterward, he worked for three years in sales with Standridge Color Corp. He has a bachelor’s degree in logistics and transportation management from Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Ill., and recently graduated from Western Michigan University with a master’s degree in education.
ENGINEERING
• The consulting engineering firm Byce & Associates Inc. announced three staff additions. Fred Grunert has joined the firm as a project architect. He has a bachelor’s degree in architecture and a bachelor’s degree in environmental design from Ball State University. With more than nine years of experience, Grunert has worked independently and in conjunction with other firms designing, coordinating and managing a variety of commercial and private projects. Daniel Swain has joined the firm as a mechanical engineer. He graduated from Western Michigan University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University. Swain, who comes to Byce & Associates with more than 12 years of experience in his field, is pursuing a doctorate in mechanical engineering at Michigan State University. Erik Rydman has joined the firm as an electrical engineer. The graduate of Western Michigan University has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Rydman is pursuing a master’s degree in business administration at WMU. He has more than five years of experience in electrical engineering design and LEED sustainability requirements.
