Dental health key to curbing other costly illnesses

While state and local leaders to hail the importance of the current 900 million expansion at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, a low-key visit to the College of Dentistry in the UK on August 26 only should not go unnoticed. He promised the possibility of long-term preventive health care that can keep thousands of young Kentucky never patients in the UK hospital.

The visitors were Governor Steve Beshear and his wife Jane.Joined by the new president British Capilouto Eli, who is a dentist and public health professional, and Sharon Turner, dean of the dental school, Beshear announced the second phase of its initiative to reduce the rate of cavities in horrible teeth children of the state.

A new pilot program called Smiles schools offer preventive oral health services for 25,000 children in Appalachian Kentucky.
