Customers react to hidden camera in Starbucks bathroom

Brandon, Florida-- A camera discovered hidden under the sink in a Starbucks bathroom has customers outraged and concerned. Hillsborough Sheriff's deputies announced Thursday they'd seized the camera after being contacted by the manager of the Starbucks inside the Westfield Brandon Town Center May 31st. The news prompted calls to the Sheriff's Office from parents who worried nude images of their children might end up on-line.

Detectives said Friday they were still going through the video, but so far had not seen any images showing children or anyone's face.  What the video did show was a shot of the suspect's vehicle including a license tag number.   It was that information that led to the arrest of 33-year-old Eric Efaw of Valrico.   Detectives think the camera was accidently turned on as he walked into the mall.

Detectives say Efaw admitted to placing the camera in the unisex restroom at Starbucks between 6 and 7 times over the period of two months.  Efaw owns an internet company but detectives have not yet uncovered any information he posted or was selling the images on-line.

Efaw was arrested and booked Wednesday into the Hillsborough County Jail. Investigators say he will face additional charges for each victim illegally videotaped in the bathroom.

BERLIN – A decline in the number of new infections in a deadly bacterial outbreak gives reason for hope that the epidemic is abating, Germany’s health minister said Wednesday before an E.coli crisis meeting with EU and German health officials in Berlin.

“I cannot yet give an all-clear, but after an analysis of the numbers there’s reason for hope,” Health Minister Daniel Bahr told ARD Television. “The numbers are continuously falling — which nonetheless means that there can still be new cases and that one unfortunately has to expect new deaths too — but overall new infections are clearly going down.”

EU health chief John Dalli, who was to attend the crisis meeting in Berlin, demanded that German health authorities work more closely with international experts in fighting the deadly epidemic that has killed 24 people and infected 2,325 in Germany, and more than 100 in other European countries and the United States.

“We have to utilize the experience and expertise in all of Europe and even outside of Europe,” Dalli told daily Die Welt.

Outside health experts and German lawmakers criticized Germany on Tuesday for a bungled investigation into the world’s deadliest E. coli outbreak, saying the infections should have been spotted much sooner.
