Trying to decide on a serving style for your wedding catering can definitely be a tough choice, and once made it’s nigh impossible to change, so we can understand the factor of intimidation here.  Don’t worry about it, my next few blogs will focus on discussing in depth each type of serving style for your wedding catering , and will hopefully help make it obvious to you which style you would like to use.  The seated meal arrangement is probably the most traditional approach, and likely the safest way to do your wedding catering reception as well.  You don’t have to worry about staff not knowing what to do or forgetting any details of a fancy new age arrangement, so perhaps this is the best serving style for you.  The seated meal sitting arrangement involves you making a seating chart for your guests and then having waiters serve them their food in courses at the appropriate times.  So long as you hire a good wedding catering company, their staff will know exactly what to do and all of the stress and burdens of your wedding reception will melt away.  Now there are several different methods for serving within the seated meal arrangement, so you’ll have to choose one.  The first option is plated service where your guests are given just one plate each with every course on it.  The second option is Russian service where your wait staff serves food from platters onto plates directly in front of them, (classy).  And the third is family style where large platters of the dishes are brought out to each table and your guests can all serve themselves.

Now if you decide to do your wedding catering as a seated meal, then there are several things to consider.  The first of which is what will you serve?  Because your guests don’t have much choice in what they do or do not eat, (unlike a buffet), then you will want to pick a food with a very wide appeal.  Your wedding catering menu should be one that is both traditional and tasty, so don’t rule out foods like chicken.  Just because chicken’s been done before doesn’t mean it isn’t a great choice.  Also, whatever you choose you need to make sure that it isn’t something which will become cold or soggy after two much time as passed, as that is inevitably what will happen in the classic seated meal arrangement.  Just don’t worry about it.  If you’re having trouble thinking of menu ideas you can always talk to your wedding catering company and they can help you out.
