Land O'Lakes man charged with armed home invasion after Dachshund pups taken
SHADY HILLS — George Brick went to a neighbor's house, armed with two guns, and announced he was ready to die, authorities said.
All Brick wanted, deputies said, was to retrieve the two dachshund puppies he claimed were his.
It's unclear when the tug-of-war over the dogs began, or who actually owns them. But at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, the puppies were in a bedroom of Adnan Amir's house on Pasco Acres Drive. When Brick, 46, showed up, no one dared to stop him, according to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report.
Kristee Stevenson, who lives in the house, later told deputies she was afraid Brick would kill her. But she told him: "You made your bed this time, now you're going to lay in it. I'll never forgive you."
Brick grabbed the puppies and fled down the street to his own home, authorities said. Deputies went to his house and called the SWAT unit, as Brick had a history of fighting with deputies, the Sheriff's Office said.
A deputy asked Brick to come outside. He refused. Another deputy called Brick on the phone. Brick replied that he had nothing to do with the incident.
When the deputy asked about the dogs, Brick responded, "I don't know, they're my wife's dogs, talk to her," the sheriff's report said. Brick's wife got on the line, told deputies the dogs had been returned to her and hung up, the report said.
Brick was arrested at 1 a.m. Thursday and charged with armed home invasion. He remained Friday at the Land O'Lakes jail in lieu of $115,000 bail.
It is unclear what happened to the dogs.

Land O' Lakes Man Charged With DUI After Fleeing Crash « Pasco ...
A Land O’ Lakes man was arrested Saturday following a traffic crash that law enforcement officials say he caused and then fled.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, the accident took place shortly after noon June 11 when the victim was sitting at the red light at eastbound State Road 54 and State Road 56. The suspect is said to have rear-ended the victim’s truck. The man then got out of his vehicle and gave the victim his name and address before getting back into his pickup truck and driving off, the report said.
According to witnesses, the suspect drove across all eastbound lanes of travel and into the left turn lane. He then made a U-turn and fled westbound on State Road 54 at “a high rate of speed.”
Two witnesses saw the damaged truck fleeing and followed it to the owner’s residence. In the meantime, the highway patrol arrived on the scene and was able to positively identify the suspect based on the information given to the victim, the report said.
Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies, the witnesses, victim and a trooper then went to the suspect’s home on Eagles Watch Drive in Land O’ Lakes. Here Trooper Michael Wilder said the suspect was found standing against his damaged truck and was positively identified again by the victim.
Wilder’s report said the suspect smelled of alcohol and had “bloodshot and glassy/watery” eyes. The suspect told Wilder he “had not been drinking alcohol since he got home.”
Arrested was Michael H., 59. He was charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and DUI property damage. He was later released from the Land O’ Lakes Jail.
A DUI charge occurring in this way should absolutely be fought. How do they know he was drunk at the time of the crash? The fact is, they don’t. If this is presented in court, the DUI charge may very well be thrown out.
