Accord Speedway Kicks off Mid Week Madness With Successful Opening Show

ACCORD, N.Y. -- Unlike a season ago when Mother Nature prevailed with the upper hand for two consecutive Wednesday evenings, promoters Gary and Donna Palmer launched the opening event of the mid-week racing series at the Accord Speedway in splendid fashion. The fabulous summer in the Catskills weather created a picture perfect setting as close to 90 competitors filled the pit area with competitors from a six state surrounding area and one transfer student from Mexico performing their magic for the nice opening night crowd on hand. The opening night action showcased the new racing format that was generated over the winter months as many new divisions of racing have been included for the the 2011 edition of the quick-hitting Wednesday night shows. Promoter Gary Palmer had his pristine quarter-miler in perfect condition as the track surface was as smooth as glass and as soft as cotton and the solid roster of driving talent provided for a great evening of entertaining events. The opening event produced many winners and while some of the names were victorious in the past at the speedway, some of the new racers in action performed flawlessly to add their names to the Accord history books.

Kenny Phillips captured the 0-50 Quad feature while a nail-biting battle kicked off the 51-90 Quad feature as two of the top racers from a season continued their battle with last ninght's show. The "Young Gasser" Griffin Robertson and "The Little Torch" Melissa Torchio provided the early fireworks as the pair raced side by side and nose to tail throughout the event. The outcome came down to the final turn and race to the finish line with Robertson glued to high-middle racing channel and Torchio going for broke by challenging the top shelf of the raceway. Robertson, who led throughout, was able to fend off the challenges of Torchio to capture the win by a thread and enjoy a trip to the Lucas Oil Products Winners Circle. Dylan Dworak led from start to finish in the 51-90 Mod Quad encounter event as Michael Dworak suffered from engine problems at the midway point of the event and limped to the finish line as the runner-up. .

Blake Hulseapple captured the initial Kid's Kart feature attraction. Emily Huston captured the Kart Lite main event over Chad Cooper and Paul Wilson while Gary Huston captured the Kart Heavy feature and Tanner Correia captured the Junior Sportsman main.

As of right now the cars together and running useing my old T4 setup with a 70mm master power. I was tired of the car sitting so I put the new motor in and bought a MPT70 so I could drive it and go to the track this summer. My ? is over the off season I plan on doing a custom T6 hotside with a S480. I see supra's with 2jz's with S480s so I belive I shouldnt have a problem with spool but just want to get some opinions. Car has a C4 with a Transbreak and I need a converter so Ill probably get a converter when I do the S480.
