You'll use every club in the bag - bringing fun & adventure back to golf

“You’ll use every club in the bag,” is a compliment pertaining to a golf course’s design and playing characteristics and taken to mean that in order to score well you will need a variety of shots not just, “Hit it hard. Go find it and hit it hard again.”

Or, put another way, it could be a fun course to play.

Golfers also seem to like layouts that require a range of tee shots, i.e., not every hole is a tree-lined bowling alley. Maybe there is a bunker or two to be carried or avoided or a dogleg with the fairway sloping in the opposite direction…you know, fun stuff.

Secondly, the guys and gals who make a living playing this game are better at it than we are. Obvious you say but, (drum roll please) since they are so much better than average players and the rulers of the rules are concerned these few elite golfers are too good and hitting the ball too far, why not roll back the number of clubs they can carry to ten or 12?

Advices needed on bowling ball layouts - BowlingCommunity.com

Hi Alan. This is a question for a coach or Pro Shop operator who can watch you bowl and work with you. If you don't have one close by, I highly recommend Mo Pinel's chat site, bowlingchat dot net (can't post a url here). If you submit a video, Mo and his people will make recommendations for you. And they do it for free. They helped me greatly right about this time last year. The guy is a genius. Go to their site and do read the requirements for what they want in the video. Alan, is this your first ball, or do you have another ball you can get a pap off of? Also remember that surface prep effects the reaction of the ball as much or more then the drilling. Sometimes you need to do a combination of an aggressive layout and a polished surface to create an aggressive skid snap reaction. Being able to drill to your pap would allow the pro-shop operator to create a more custom reaction then a label drill. I can say it as simple as this, if you look at all the tour players you will find maybe a total of 5% of their bowling balls that are drilled to snap. This is considering that each player brings somewhere between 20-40 bowling balls to an event, and they might have 1-2 that are drilled snappy. They all drill them to roll and to roll early because its all about controlling the heads at that point, the ball does the rest. @sk8shorty01: hey thanks for getting back to me. Because the local center where i bowl they only apply a medium amount of oil with a short pattern. i guess it's about 16=>18 units of oil and about 38ft long. And after 3 or 4 hours, it'll start to carry down and the carrying-pin ability is substantially weaker. So i guess a ball with length and aggressive back-end layout would be appropriate in this situation. I'm thinking a layout with a shorter length which i guess medium length and back-end will be better according to your advice. What do you think? and can you please specify me on how to drill the ball to achieve that target. Thanks a lot I would drill a medium aggressive solid (C-System 3.5 will be fine) with the pin under the ring finger and the Mass Bias about an inch to an inch and a half off the thumb hole (towards the PAP). This should give you a drilling that will read the mid-lane well, while still having enough energy to get corners out. It will also blend the pattern out, creating a more even and consistent read.
