Two adults and two young children were injured in a two-car crash Wednesday afternoon at Route 422 and Scenic Drive in Jackson Township.
The children, reportedly 3 and 5, were flown by helicopter to Hershey Medical Center, and the two drivers were taken there by ambulance following the 2:51 p.m. crash.
A Dodge Neon driven by a woman with the two child passengers was headed west on Route 422 when it collided with a car driven by a woman who was pulling into the intersection from Scenic Drive, state police said.
No further information was available.
Because the victims' names were unavailable, their conditions could not be obtained Wednesday night.
The children suffered head injuries, according to initial dispatch reports.
Both cars sustained major front-end damage, and rescuers cut the roof off the Neon to extricate the passengers. The crash shut down Route 422 from Halfway Drive to Ramona Road and created a traffic headache for motorists who were rerouted to East Kercher Avenue and Halfway Drive.
A man driving a tractor trailer headed north on Halfway Drive attempted to turn right onto East Kercher Avenue but got stuck in a ditch and blocked the intersection.
Halfway Drive was then shut down by fire police until the tractor trailer was removed. Fire police then shut down Route 422 at Prescott Road. Route 422 reportedly reopened about an hour and a half after the crash.
Assisting police at the scene were Myerstown's Keystone Hook & Ladder Fire Co., First Aid and Safety Patrol, Bethel Ambulance, Life Lion helicopter and fire police.

He held up traffic for 61/2 hours, he created needless pain and the death of animals, he was DRUNK! He could have killed a bus load of people. Throw the book at that idiot for everything they can. Murder charges would never stand, animal cruelty charges are never enough.
