While promoting the show in January, Evelyn and all five of her daughters - Tamar , Trina , Towanda , Traci and Toni – discussed the episode that aired last week, which saw the Braxton matriarch attempt to get back into the dating game.
“My mom is newly divorced after 35 years, so it’s a bit challenging, and you see that on the show,” Toni told us at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour in Pasadena. “We portray her trying to date and get a life. It’s very challenging for her because she and my dad had been together since she was 14 years old. So you see a woman coming full circle and trying to redefine herself.”
“Yeah. I’m doing pretty good with it,” Evelyn said. “And they don’t think I’m doing a good job, but I’m doing pretty good with it.”
“Well, that’s because you hadn’t dated before,” said Towanda. “It was always you and Daddy. He was your first boyfriend.”
“Yeah, that’s true,” said Evelyn.
“So, you know, we’re kind of trying to help her along the way to learn how to really date,” Towanda said.

Toni Braxton’s sister, Trina, has credited the family’s new reality TV show for helping her clean-up after a DUI.
A family intervention, intended to show Trina how much her drinking habits were upsetting her siblings, was featured on the series, “Braxton Family Values”, and she insists watching the episode keeps her sober.
She says, “I still enjoy a drink… but it’s not as bad.”
“It (TV coverage of her problem) was embarrassing and it was more real than I ever hoped it would be. It was life changing and necessary.”
WE-TV’s one-hour “Braxton Family Values” reunion special, hosted by Wendy Williams, will premiere Tuesday, June 14th at 10 pm ET/PT, directly following the show’s season finale at 9.
Titled “Braxton Family Reunion,” Wendy will get the scoop on everything, from Toni’s money-woes, Trina’s DUI, their shaky marriages, and Temar.com.
The show has been renewed for a 2nd season. The series follows singer/songwriter Toni Braxton and her four sisters – Tamar, Trina, Towanda and Traci – as they navigate the drama created by the relationships among them.
