Rage Against the Machine Look Back on 20 Years of 'Terrorizing' Audiences
The inspiration is the 20-year anniversary of the first time the band was in a room together, and the L.A. quartet, who've been relatively quiet interview wise since their Coachella reunion in 2007, are opening up in honor of the milestone. In this "guerilla" video from Tim Commerford, the bassist takes fans into his prep routine for a show and says, "Hopefully it'll continue to happen, but no guarantees here ... Truth be told, this might be the last show we ever play. That's the way I always look at it." Speaking to Spinner, Morello echoes those sentiments, saying, "Sometimes the guys in the band don't know from one day to the next." That's been the Rage way since they reformed: enigmatic and letting the music speak for them. But in this interview, Morello lets fans into the Rage world, talking about the feeling of being on stage with the band, coming back to the Coliseum 14 years after opening for U2 there and why L.A. is the music capitol of the world. This is a Rage Against the Machine show -- we chose the bands and the venue, we're choosing the activists and the charity causes that will be in the Rage reeducation camp that will be part of the venue. The 20th anniversary of the first time the four of us were in a room together is this August and we thought "What better way to mark it than by, from the very humble beginnings of playing in a little rehearsal studio in the San Fernando Valley, to playing the biggest venue in town?" We're certainly an active band. There's going to be no more active band in the universe than Rage Against the Machine on July 30 [laughs]. We'll let you know, if and when there's new music. You will hear it. If and when there's a tour, those things will not be kept secret. Beyond that, it's all just speculation. Sometimes the guys in the band don't know from one day to the next. The one thing I know for sure is on July 30 we're gonna be rocking the Coliseum senseless. I can only speak for myself, but, for me, absolutely. The great benefit of being in a band is the personal and musical chemistry, but often it comes with four people determining a timetable and everybody's got different ideas of when that's going to be. With the Nightwatchman stuff, I determine the timetable, so it really does take the pressure off. When I do Rage Against the Machine now, it's just for the pure love of playing those songs with my friends and for our incredible audience that's sustained us for two decades.Van Halen 2007 Tour Set List - News
Here's my favorite song from the Lollapalooza years." It's nothing like that. My experience since 2007 is that the band has never played better, the band has never jacked crowds up as much as we have over the course of the four years.
There's plenty of groovy soul music, encounters with loopy cops and wacked out cokeheads, and one memorable Van Halen-scored joyride in a parking lot. Cera's sweet passivity and Hill's foul-mouthed vulgarity pair well with Mintz-Plasse's off-the-wall
2007 Concert in Review: Money, music, crazy @ Sail with BLUE Moon
This is another turbulent year in the music industry, a major business challenge, to see almost all of the business model, and require as much pressure this change, the polar bear needs a heat lamp. Peer-to-peer music downloading, it seems irresistible little enterprises closed issue, bad news against ill-considered punitive litigation arising that file sharing, CD sales decline, increase in the failure of traditional music retail outlets, and well-known artists like Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails and removed their free online version, it seems these days the music industry can not catch a break
All but the midst of these difficulties. One in 2007, the industry has been more positive the market’s strong live performances. Nostalgia has always been commonplace, with the classic rock act to hit the road, they are driven by the behavior of 80 reunion, no matter who has been part of a midlife crisis, itchy, or who want to pad their retirement income. Just look at the current (November 20, 2007 weeks) holds the top fifteen in Pollstar’s Top 50 list of concert tour point behavior: 1. Bon Jovi2. Bruce Springsteen & E Street Band3. Where Halen4. Celine Dion5. Rich Fighters6. Neil Young7. Oz Osbourne8. Tool9. Billy Joel10. The Police11. John Mellencamp12. Elton John13. Stevie Wonder14. Spices Girls15. Rage Against the Machine reunion I count four (five if you include Springsteen and the E Street Band tour), a lounge act in Las Vegas attempted to escape, and a couple of relatively new band. Will certainly be well adapted to rest under the “nostalgia” umbrella – not Billy Joel or Elton John is not good or relevant, this is only their music is not what you usually think of a 20-year-old was shaking out as they preferred. The numbers are not all yet, but the grosses are looking good. Although they travel actually began in 2005, the Rolling Stones “A Bigger Bang tour ended in the autumn of 2007, entered for the highest grossing concert tour of the Guinness Book of World Records. How much is that you ask? Them tilt between 000 million (U.S. $ ) for them to play 144 dates this is correct, more than 50 billion dollars, almost every night $ 4 million. not bad pocket money. we get all of this though is to travel fist hand in the dough walleye, there are some real checks to consider. First of all record company tour itself rarely see any money, so it’s not like the concerts help bridge the income of CD sales declined. the artists themselves can find a very lucrative tourism business, even though they usually do not see this is to collect large amounts of cash at home, according to the industry average, an artist can expect up to 35% of the net ticket price and fifty-one show growth in sales of goods which take volume to pay the promoters, highway personnel, venue, ticket sales, and anyone who has any planning, marketing participation, running, setting up or cleaning up after the show.Van Halen 2007 Tour Set List - Bookshelf
